The feast of The Black Nazarene 2013

Every year on the 9th day of January, the feast of The Black Nazarene (Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno) also known to us as "Quiapo Day" is celebrated by Catholics from all over manila and throughout the country.
Due to the popularity of the Black Nazarene, during its feast, there is always high volume of people reaching to tens of thousands to a million gather around the streets of Quiapo.

According to history, the Black Nazarene which is enshrined in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila, Philippines has been carried in a "caroza" (carriage) for procession into the streets of Quiapo for almost 200 years by male Catholic devotees clad in maroon and are barefoot. This is said to serve as penance and an imitation where Jesus was on his way to Mount Calvary.

People also believed that the Black Nazarene is miraculous. For some who have touched the Nazarene, they claimed that they've been healed of their ails and woes, some devotees even rub their handkerchiefs or towels on the statue in hoping to have some of the power transferred to them.
