[Children's book] 50 Amazing Brazilians

Illustrations that I made for the book 50 Incredible Brazilians to Meet Before You Grow Up, published by Galera Record, in 2017.

The illustrations by Anita Garibaldi, Aracy de Carvalho and Graziela Maciel Barroso were traditionally done in graphite and India ink on paper. Subsequently, they were digitized and digitally colored. In times of superheroes in theaters, 50 amazing Brazilian women to meet before you grow up is a fantastic book about real-life heroines.
Anita Garibaldi
The heroine of two worlds: courageous, she fought for freedom, met other peoples, faced troops, led battles, fought enemies, lived in camps, mother of four children who lived with her in the troops, and even participated in fights in Santa Catarina, Montevideo and Italy.
Aracy de Carvalho
The Angel of Hamburg: he entered a ship taking his 5-year-old son to Germany, when the country was already governed by Hitler. She loved red lipstick and was full of life. She worked at a consulate and, hidden from everyone, helped many, many Jews to enter Brazil illegally and free them from persecution by the Nazis.
Graziela Maciel Barroso
The grande dame of botany: Registered 25 new species of Brazilian plants. She applied for the Botanical Garden, out of 6 candidates, only she was a woman. At the age of 47, he took the entrance exam and studied biology at the university. He lost his son, but continued to dedicate himself to plants. He got his doctorate at 60, never stopped studying and taught until the last days of his life.
