TASK 

It is predicted that within the next decade, all tigers in the wild will become extinct. I was tasked with creating a public service announcement that sheds like on this urgent topic.

PROCESS

I wanted to draw a parallel between extinct animals and fairytale creatures. I envisioned myself as a mother in 20 years telling my daughter about tigers, this exotic creature that no longer exists and might as well be a fairytale story. 

So, I created a pop-up book in which I posited a tiger in a fantasy scene. I began by finding an old book at a vintage store, and used this as the base of my scene. I illustrated trees, bushes, and a castle and created stencils from those illustrations which I then used to cut out the pop-up pieces.
