It is a time of great uncertainty for many college students, particularly for children of immigrants. For it’s spring 2017 booklet, MACAC (Minnesota Association for College Admission Counseling), the organization wanted to acknowledge these challenges while conveying optimism in the future through community. Taking the tagline “Together Towards Tomorrow” as inspiration, I used visuals tied to the sun. Both an unstoppable force and boon to people, it has similar connotations to challenges we face. I also looked to sundials and astrolabes as methods we use to control and harness an otherwise immense power. The color scheme holds true to MACAC’s established identity, and the paper selection (using a stipple texture for the cover) invites the reader to engage with the piece.
