Embrace The Fight
During April 2012, our mother began her third battle with cancer. To help with the high costs of treatment in our country, Dominican Republic, my sister and I created a fundraiser by selling fashionable handmade bracelets she designed. After a few weeks of prototyping and some generous help from friends and family, production was under way and Embrace The Fight was born.
Word about the project spread quickly as press coverage, radio interviews, social media and blogs helped tell our story and invite more Fighters (volunteers) to join the cause.
Every bracelet sold was made by a Fighter, who's name was written on the tag. Volunteers were also photographed in their best fighting pose and then had their pictures branded and shared on Facebook. In no time, more people were signing up to make the bracelets and get their fighting mugshot, a symbol of their stand against cancer. The fight goes on.
