Manta & Ray is a short film written and directed by Sebastian Pavone Cao.

It is an experimental film based on the ancestral initiatory rites, and a free interpretation of the " Hero's Journey" by J. Campbell.

Here comes Ray symbolizing reason, surfing on Manta (symbolizing passion) He steals the apple of knowledge from the ruins of an ancient temple. From there he is persecuted by the awareness of the pairs of opposites, good and evil, cold and heat, pain and pleasure, wealth and poverty, etc. (represented by 2 rabid dogs, white one and black the other) in a vertiginous descent to the underworld, where he must face the dragon of his own madness. Only if reason dominates passion will it be able to defeat the dragon and be reborn as a new being, reaching the maximum of knowledge, "the union with the ONLY ONE REALITY".
