Antenor payment terminal

About the project
This project was my bachelor thesis which was given to us by a local company called Antenor. They are specialised in making payment terminals and wanted to have a new design. The new terminal would have to be modular to make it cheaper for them to manufacture several different versions. The main focus for us was making this product with a human centered approach.
Sketching and testing
The project involved lots of sketching. We created moodboards to define the styling of the terminal we wanted to have. About 100 sketches later we finally reached something we were happy with and was ready to be tested.
Mock-up
To validate the quality of the design we picked cardboard of the street and started building. The setup was built in a way we could change the height and angle of certain parts. We then asked people of different heights to pick their favourite configuration. In the end we had a terminal that was good for everyone to use.
The mock-up also had an iPad attached which had a working prototype of the UI we designed. The prototype was made using Adobe XD.
The final design
The final design resulted in a total of three versions with different possibilities. The first one only accepts debit/credit cards and Apple pay or Android pay. The second one keeps this functionality and can also take coins. The last one is full option with the added possibility of bank notes.
