Rendered Still Lifes
Rhino and Maxwell
I decided to practice using Maxwell to render photorealistic images. I wanted to practice creating materials as well as models.
This image is a study in fruit textures, glass, and liquids.
I wanted to design a series of stemware pieces. I had some difficulty representing the liquid inside because they shared a common surface. I figured out that an almost negligible offset inward provided enough separation to render the textures distinctly. The scene needed more life so i decided to model some fruit. what is wonderful about maxwell materials is that it allows you to create a displacement layer that renders the surface geometry in higher detail at the time of rendering so that the actual file stays light. for example the strawberries are a nearly smooth surface in the model but when rendered with the displacement all the seeds are depressed into the strawberry. Neat stuff.
