One Way Ticket: Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series and Other Visions of the Great Migration North reunited Lawrence’s 60-panel Migration Series with poetry, music, and photography from the era. Upon entering the exhibition, visitors encountered a large-scale “river of data” that visualized the massive population shifts and socio-political events that inspired Lawrence’s series. Colors were pulled directly from Lawrence’s color palette, while the typography was inspired by traditional American woodblock prints.
