Project done in Vila Nova da Cerveira in an abandoned house that belonged to an arrested pedophile,
with objects given to us by the town's inhabitants.
In Vila Nova da Cerveira, just to the north border of Portugal with Spain, there's this really creepy abandoned house by the river, on the other side of the railroads.
Legend has it that it belongs to an american pedophile that got arrested.
Spending a week in town creating art in the Cerveira Creative Camp initiative by portuguese TV Channel Canal 180, we decided to thank the townsfolk for putting up with us and went door to door asking for objects they didn't need anymore to create something, while taking pictures of them. The original plan was to showcase the pictures of the objects' owners as well. We obviously ended up doing something completely different - and much grimmer.
Among the objects we collected: a straw chair, a fish tank, an old stereo, a glass, a vintage hair cutting machine, a bicicle tire and a really old air pump, a small statue, a picture frame and a t-shirt from the town fair.
The red paint was found inside the house.

This was probably the weirdest and coolest hairdresser salon we've ever seen. It was completely decorated with a 50's theme and since we saw it the first time we knew we wanted something from this place. After trying to convince him for a while, the owner - above - decided to give us an antique shaving device. We couldn't believe our luck. It was later hanged with the old stereo wires in front of the fireplace, but not before it was actually used by one of us for shaving.
The lady with a majestic pose from the restaurant gave us a broken glass.
It didn't seem to fit anywhere. We decided to smash it against the fireplace to add some drama.

The man from the photo shop gave us a beautiful frame - it was actually for sale for about 12 euros.
He was incredibly helpful and incredibly proud to be part of the project, as they all were.
So much he decided to get his girlfriend to pose for the picture as well.
