When your best mate asks you to do his branding, you can’t really say no can you.
Goodluck Dragon was an identity and custom typography project for a music production
student who wanted a fresh new look as to go with his complete rebrand.

Flying under the identity “Fuka Tatsu” or “Goodluck Dragon”, the design was heavily inspired from its Japanese name in combination with western influences, and the style of music it would be representing. Old style Japanese claigraphy was too dated, and western fonts didn’t represent the style quite right, so as to combine them I took influence from modern Japanese references.

Anime, music, and films (such as the brilliance of blade runner) gave me a style reference,
using bold lines and geometric grid based design. The end branding is modern and fresh, and was an introduction into a new area of caligraphy and modern typography for me.
