How to make a functional and also attractive form of a sitting table in one stroke? This was the main issue – the concept. We designed a G shaped table top, from where originates the name Bench G. The seat is connected to the table top through the walking surface.
We tried to design a modular bench, which could be composed to a full table with seats on both sides. We took the idea of twisted fingers and transformed it into a joint of those two elements. Bench G is made from G shaped lamellas, whose form is used to contact both ends of the table. At the ends there are hidden pins which prevent unwanted dissolution of the elements
Furthermore, we took advantage of two different parts of table combining together and making them in different types of wood, thereby forming an interesting pattern. Maple and cherry were would create an appealing light – dark contrast. Pattern can be also seen on the walkable part where the spaces between the lamellas are filled with contrasting wood.
