About the book
Ludmila Sandalova had been collecting the war ordeals of her mother and other inhabitants of North-Eastern Slovakia. After four years of dedicated work, she compiled the fragments of World War II memories into a moving collection of six short stories.
In 1944, people of Nizny Orlik and Jurkova Vola got surprised by a bombing a raid. They had to evacuate overnight into the woods where they were trying to survive a winter in fear, cold and with a no idea what is going to happen next.
