Background

Penrose Festival, formally Penrose Market, is a student run event held at Ravensbourne. The 2012 event needed to be bigger and reach a wider audience and consequently required a new visual presence.

Process

We chose to remove Penrose from being simply an arts market. We provided short business and design courses which were popular to professionals and in addition to the 100+ stalls we had design agencies promoting their businesses. On top of social media platforms, we marketed ourselves in tube stations, on the radio, a variety of newspapers and on open air screens.

The Identity

My key visual values were to stay true to the Ravensbourne heritage, to represent the
individual creatives involved and to be vibrant and exciting. The icon was used as it is part of the Penrose pattern on the Ravensbourne building and each letter of the name is
a different classic font as it would be impossible to represent each designer with just one.
