The Tail
Along with the rapid development of technology, electrical products are not the only tool for connection; rather, they are more like a communication equipment. It gradually erodes human languages and fades people’s communication methods. Technologies silently change and weaken our organs, feelings, and bodies. According to the survey, 57.5% of smartphone addicts think using electrical equipment for a long time brings them uncomfortableness and 52.5% among them think the current advancing technology causes lack of communication and weaken expressing ability. Now few people keep the habit of hand-writing letters, and the number of people using landline phones is decreasing. Electrical technology replaces most of our traditional communication methods. Sometimes even when we are having lunch together, we play smartphones and have few communications with others, which, causes indifferent personal interactions, nature-deficit disorder, and interpersonal relationship alienation. In our society full of information, sometimes I long for the traditional communication environment, therefore I always want people to trace back to the original feel and expression. As a student majoring in design, I try to change this social phenomenon.

The tail attempts to abandon all electrical equipment to let people return to the original society. The tail is a vivid demonstration method, which could enrich our language and upgrade our communication level, returning to the concept of Utopia. We choose to design a totally new language and communication method themed as the tail to make predictions about people’s lifestyle, which, is also an irony for the phenomenon of modern society. It will be a totally new communication experience and turn the intangible tail into the visible tail. In the fact, it also expresses the designer’s expectation that people could return to the normal communication status.
