I took the UI Challenge this year because I've felt the need of of learning the basics of UI and UX design. It was a good opportunity for practices my skills.
I recommend taking this challenge to everyone interested in UI design. Not just because you will learn a lot, but also to help your creativity flow freely and be more comfortable with the ux world. For those just starting out, like me, it's really an excellent boost!
