Woodlands

This series of pictures shows nostalgia and places familiar to me.

Kiddy ride.
Barber shop.
Old school tidbits shop.
Vista park.
I recall so vividly how my neighborhood have changed over the years. How many constructions were there? I may not know all the teeny tiny changes but I'll definitely know about the places that I go to often.
Vista point is just a few streets down the road, and you can spot vista park right next to it. It's a park that I have a very strong impression of and always excited to tell my friends about. And it's because it's Alice in wonderland themed. There used to be so many elements to immediately tell that the theme is Alice in wonderland. With the teacups merry-go-round, caterpillar seats, mushroom sheltered seats, playing cards, potion bottle, Cheshire Cat and White rabbit with his pocket watch statues in all the vibrant primary colors, it'll be tough to forget about this place once you stepped into it.
This place have since changed with the construction of new playgrounds. Almost all the elements are long gone, the cards pavilion, 2 bending cards in the grass and the mushroom shelter is all that's left. It's no longer what it was and it will never be as cool as before, but the change of playgrounds can only benefit the future generation and building their cognitive and motor skills aside from just having fun. What I can say is that I'm glad they haven't removed all the elements, so at least when I drop by at the park, I'll still be familiar with the place and be able to look back and relive all the great memories.

Vista point on the other hand have had a renovation for the wet market located at the very end, and also some new shops popping up here and there, but still looks pretty much the same like how it was 15 years ago as far as I know of.
The same old kiddy ride that I used to love, one that swings just left and right but makes me giggle so happily. There are all sorts of kiddy rides nowadays and they're so different from the old ones with all the new cartoon characters that I'm not even familiar of.
The same traditional joss paper shop, the same old bookstore, the same old school tidbits store which still sells biscuits in tins and the same old barber shop which is only surviving because of their old customers. When I dropped by at the barber shop on the second floor, I saw how faded their store sign was, how dark the corridor was and how there were no customers yet the uncles were still chatting and laughter can be heard from afar makes me decide to take a picture as a keepsake. The nation is growing with changes over the years, but it's saddening how some careers and old shops are slowly disappearing with no one carrying the tradition down as they are not one that can follow the pace of our fast growing country.
