White Fragility & Intersectionality

White Fragility & Intersectionality
“White Fragility is a state in which even a minimum amount of racial stress becomes intolerable, triggering a range of defensive moves. These moves include the outward display of emotions such as anger, fear and guilt, and behaviours such as argumentation, silence, and leaving a stress-inducing situation. These behaviours, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium.” Robin DiAngelo (2011)
An exhibition on the intolerance against the discussion of racism and the overlapping discrimination of different social identities and their related system of oppression.
The goal is to build up peoples’ perspectives and give them the skills to help make a change. To deal with the issue of discomfort, white people need to build a stamina to discuss the issues of racism in great detail, by examining the defensive moves such as silence and withdrawal it means we can pinpoint the problem at its source and introduce interventions appropriately. These interventions should start off at a smaller level and be a regular occurrence as the more racism is discussed the more knowledge on it people will be gain. To achieve equality across all levels of societies oppression we need to analyse and make a change in every aspect.
