Save The Children Office

Save the Children Office space
Berlin, Germany

Save the Children is a organization dedicated to improving the lives of children
around the world. Their goal is to create lasting improvement, not just a temporary fix. As the organization in Germany expands, the staff needs a larger space to house more staff and resources. The site chosen is Potsdamer Strasse 81, Berlin. This post-war building is a steel and concrete mixed construction, with many
renovations over the years. Save the Children would occupy the third floor.

The reception area is design to be warm and inviting. The space is combined with the exhibition space, displaying images of children they have helped through out the years. This reception area leads into the hallway toward the Funtion Hall entrance. There are large graphics displaying where Save the Children operates and recent programs the organization has instituted. The wooden slats are designed to add lighting, as well as control the acoustics in the space. The materials include bamboo flooring, sustainable chipwood, felt, glass and stainless steel.

The main office area is designed to be as efficient as possible. Using the concept of city blocks and neighborhoods, the layout is made to have separate departments with points of interest as a connection. The desks have custom designed panels, which carry all the necessary cables. The desks are all anchored to a column, or near a wall to allow easy cable access. The materials for the space include carpeting, maple desks, felt panels and upholstery, stainless steel, glass, DIRTT Walls and sustainable chipboard.
