3D CAD community projects involve a lot of3D designs to be available on hand. These models should be with them wheneverholding a meetings with the clients on project sites. Designing a new device oreven a structure means carrying a lot of 3D data. Often this data becomesobsolete as changes are made back at the office, challenging the design, manufacturing, and modelling efficiencies. As a result, they spend many hourson and off the job site, collaborating with a client which becomes a tediousjob; it is not uncommon for them to have a geographically dispersed team ofcollaborators working simultaneously on large 3D CAD files for a project.Sunglass.io aims to solve all 3D content collaboration related issues.
The aim of my project was to explore thepossibility in real-time collaboration on 3D content over web and mobiledevices. The project is a deep dive into the methods that designers and design teamsuse to collaborate on 3D content.
The larger goal is to view Sunglass.io as aplatform to democratize design, vis-a-vis, to enable users to share, review, present and analyse 3D content in real time over web (thinclients). In addition, to explore the modern domain of real-time 3Dcollaboration. The focus of the project was to find opportunities whileinteracting with 3D content over web browsers.
