This project is built as a submission for Marvel Creative Day Out Exhibition in Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta. In this event, students and lecturers are offered to create their best Marvel Comics's Fan Art, and the selected Fan Art will be displayed in Binus Anggrek Campus's Hall
For this event I recreate 8 characters from Marvel Studios's Guardians of The Galaxy, and from these individual character's illustration I compose them into one alternative movie poster. The technique that i use is drawing these characters using Drawing Pen and scanned it into Adobe Photoshop. So here are the character lists....
Yondu Udonta - Peter Quill (Star Lord)
For Yondu, I use GOTG Vol.2 version. The difference between this version with GOTG Vol. 1 version is on the fin. In GOTG Vol. 1 Yondu didn't have the fin yet, only the base, but in Vol. 2 the fin looked amazing, it is just like how it looked like in the comics.
For Peter Quill I redesign how his "helmet" appeared. In the movie, his helmet appeared using some kind of "plasma" technology, and I think it looked "lazy", so I changed it. I made it so the helmet appeared as "shrapnel" so the helmet looked more mechanical.
Nebula - Mantis
Nothing really conceptual about Nebula and Mantis. I just love how Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff portrayed these characters
Drax the Destroyer - Gamora
There is also nothing really conceptual about Drax and Gamora
Rocket Raccoon - Groot
Both of these characters is so special. Unlike other characters, in GOTG both Rocket and Groot appeared as CGI (Computer Generated Image) characters. Because of this treatment we can't see who act behind these two characters, we only can listen their voices. So, to honor their acting skills I decided to put the real face of people who act as Rocket and Groot. For Rocket I put his voice actor, Bradley Cooper. I show him carry Rocket to show that he is the voice behind Rocket. For Groot I Show Groot's voice actor, Vin Diesel with half of his face as Groot.
After drawing these characters i layout them and create an "alternative poster" for Guardians of The Galaxy movie.
