Nordstrom The Catalogs was the first iPad application produced for the retail brand. The app was produced in collaboration with Synapse Group utilizing the Syndeca platform as a digital tablet extension of the traditional paper-based catalog shopping experience.

Each catalog page may be browsed in portrait (single page) or landscape (spread) orientation with the ability turn pages with a swipe gesture. Users may preview and jump directly to all available pages via an interactive thumbnail carousel.

Unlike the printed version of the catalog, the app allows the user to purchase ALL items displayed in the photography (featured items and styling accessories). The application displays a menu of product summaries for all merchandise on the page, highlighting when the user taps the item in the photo.

Tapping a product item summary displays the full product detail including: description, item #, price, color swatches, size information, alternative product views/photos. Tapping color swatches displays photo with item in the selected color. Swiping the photo displays the alt views. All product information is dynamically delivered to the app via the Syndeca platform which utilizes a secure API to pull current product data from internal Nordstrom merchandising systems.

Tapping the SHOP NOW button loads the product detail page for the item on the Nordstrom.com website (embedded instance via Webkit). From this view the user may add the item to their Nordstrom.com shopping cart and continue to checkout via the website e-commerce workflow. The application also allows users to easily share the product information with their social network of choice.
