...of human nature

What we call human nature is a complex mixture of animal instincts and so-called logic. Yet our logic is never completely free of instinctive influence. Mathematical logic is abstract only as long as we don't interpret it or find a practical use for it. That is probably why we are so afraid of artificial intelligence and transhumanism. What makes us human is our emotions. And even though emotions are the result of neuro-biochemical reactions to physical stimuli, science is trying to figure out, we should always remember that it's those emotions that bring out the best and the worst in us.
Awareness of our emotions is not automatic. It's a tough job to train on. But only if we are aware of our feelings, can we act consciously and in an ethical manner. Our acts should therefore be based equally on logic and on emotions.
