Problem: I was challenged to create a gradient mesh of a realistic image of a person. I needed to make it look as realistic as possible using Adobe Illustrator.

Solution: Using Illustrator I designed an image of Dorothy Gale from the motion picture "The Wizard of Oz" and used a gradient mesh to highlight and shadow her facial features, including the eyes, her nose and her ears. I also used a gradient mesh to bring out wrinkles in her shirt and the creases in her hair bows.

Result: Dorothy's eyes and nose ended up both being rather realistic - the gradient mesh result was similar to the original photo.
