The Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship in Jamaica is a joint Virgin Holidays / Virgin Unite non-profit venture that will harness the region’s entrepreneurial spirit and create jobs. The Centre in Jamaica is the first facility of its kind in the region and will be operated by Virgin Unite, the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group, and lead business sponsor to Virgin Holidays.
The Caribbean Centre follows the opening of the Branson Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2005. It will provide aspiring entrepreneurs with a launch pad for their businesses and a platform for job creation across the Caribbean, helping destinations like Jamaica – where unemployment rose to an eight-year high of 12.9 per cent in earlier this year – to prosper.
