STROPHES is an abstract shortfilm which visualizes the same named poem by Rainer Maria Rilke on many different levels. It was made as a semester project by 3 students at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.
The goal of this project was to tell the story of the poem in a very abstract and beautiful way. On the one hand the movements of the actress should display the plot by body language. Furthermore the double exposure symbolizes the metaphors and our interpretation of the poem. On the other hand the audio combines the different levels to one whole piece.
After we planned the production and thought about the meaning of everything, we filmed in the greenscreen-room of our university. Although we made a couple of mistakes, we worked through it and tried our best to turn the film into what we imagined. Since this was the our first project of this kind, we learned a lot about compositing in After Effects.
