Nivinavi on the AppStore

In the project, we developed a navigation game on the iPhone that could be used by both sighted and visually impaired children (and adults). The location-based game and the design methods were innovative in several ways. This research project was partly the first attempt to use a location-based game (games with GPS) for navigation training, and parts of game concepts and non-visual interaction design are novel. The game was developed in close collaboration with children and young people.
The story in the game is based on a farmer getting rid of his animals and needing help finding them again before the (evil) professor does. The phone is used as an air scanner and helps to locate the animal. You can catch it by "raking" with your mobile phone when you get close to it.
