Scatterbrain - Series Pilot: John Galm

Scatterbrain was a series pitched for Fusion under the TrackRecord vertical during my internship in Miami, Florida. The series takes a look at mental health from an artistic perspective, exploring the lives of artists affected by the realities of mental illness - how it has affected their artistic output and viceversa. After the pilot, other artists considered for the show were Hideaki Anno (creator of the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion), Keaton Henson (singer-songwriter), Jordaan Mason (musician), among others.

For the pilot episode, Santiago Muñoz and I interviewed John Galm, singer and bassist from legendary emo act Snowing, Street Smart Cyclist, and more recently as a solo artist and in his project Bad Heaven, in his house in Philadelphia.

John Galm suffers Major Depressive Disorder with a Panic Disorder, and has since sought professional psychiatric help.

This was my final production for Fusion, and as it turned out, my most personally invested. As a person who suffers Borderline Personality Disorder and Dysthymia, John's story touched me on a very personal level, and is one I revisit every time I need to be reassured that I can still fight.

Unfortunately, the show was not picked up to be continued as a series and was left in the editing phase, hence the crude graphics and dead space in the last few seconds.
