This is a knife holder I made out of an old piece of juniper. The knives and scissors snap very firmly to it but can also be taken away very easily with one hand.
The magnets are strong enough to keep the knives etc. in different angles.
On the back side I made a long groove using a drill and a chisel. The groove should be "as deep as possible" so I left only about 4 mm of wood. Then I glued 10 strong neodymium magnets (10x8x25mm) on the bottom of the groove. (There's a thin piece of iron on top of them in the picture.)
I mounted an iron bar on the wall and put a little bit of padding on it before attaching the knife holder to it. The iron bar holds the knife holder—should I say—extremely steadily on the wall but still allows removing the holder with a little bit of force.
