ECO Playscape design in Nida, Lithuania
eco + play + scape

"The play function incorporated into landscape becomes a place where kids and adults are invited to use their creativity and play. It is a continuous design of a specific land and a man-made construction which functions as an attractive public space.
By calling it ECO we assume that the design of such a place should be environment- friendly, and shouldn’t cost the earth.
All works that are needed to be done must not harm the existing landscape." UNO parks

Kidcatcher

During a 10 day workshop with company UNO PARKS our team has developed and designed a unique playground object for kids specifically made for Nida - a resort town in Lithuania located on the Curonian Split between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. Our main concept inspiration came from a young mother with her son that we tried to interview, but failed, because she ran away shouting "Sorry, I have to catch my kid!". The other source of inspiration for materials and form came from fishing nets which are used by local fishermen.

Big thanks to Ugnė Menkevičiūtė for capturing our project!
