I usually try to make a menu for most gatherings of family or friends.  It helps me buy ingredients and planwhen to start cooking each item. Most items on the menu are items I actually make. I've had a Mother's Day (sometimes Eve) celebration for years. I've decided to invite friends over for Black Friday Dinners which is basically a thanksgiving-style dinner since I like to have leftovers and we are on the road on Turkey Day. Christmas brunch never seems to get a menu...I think there is just too much going on for me to really do that.
