Love That Lost It's Beauty

The way she tells me I am hers and she is mine
Open hand or closed fist would be fine
The blood is rare and sweet as cherry wine.’
-Cherry Wine (Hozier)

Domestic abuse intrigued me as the fact that a person can cause physical, mental or even financial harm to someone they love is devastating. Love means trust. Violence of any sort is a breach of that sacred trust.

I wanted to depict the findings of my research via a visually captivating journey that unravels the process of the dependent individual begging for support, gradually leading up to the suppressor asserting dominance, and eventually committing the crime. My choice in medium has also altered over the course of the series. I begin with the unsuspecting ball pen, and then the intense ink pen and end with an element of colour to depict the fact that the actual crime goes unnoticed/hidden out of love almost always. I also wanted to leave the gender, age and relationship factor undecided as domestic abuse can encompass but is not limited to the following types of abuse:

Psychological.
Physical.
Sexual.
Financial.
Emotional.
Between two entities who share love for each other.
