SEEK: VIRTUAL REALITY PERSONALITY TEST

Who doesn't love a good hackathon? They challenge us to tinker with technology in ways that surprise us, scare us and remind us why we got into this industry in the first place.

In this inter-office hackathon, we were challenged to create a virtual reality experience based on the theme "Learn by Doing." But instead of answering the brief by building an experience that teaches you an external skill, we wondered, what if we could learn about ourselves by doing things in VR? After all, actions speak louder than words.

Introducing SEEK: an empirical voyage into your inner psyche.
Inspired by Raymond Cattell's 16-factor personality test, we created a framework for the first-ever personality test in VR. We selected 8 of Cattell's 16 factors and ideated game levels that would put each one to the test. For example, to test "Perfectionism," one level has you line up bizarre objects in zero-gravity and scores you based on how quickly and effectively you complete the task.
Based on your interactions in each game level, you're evaluated behind the scenes and funneled into one of four SEEK personality types.
The results? We all learned a little more about ourselves, and perhaps TMI about each other. Overall, a win in any version of reality.
