Inspiration
I am creating a contemporary Jewellery collection for the Graduation Knowledge Object (GKO). It includes a statement ring, a bangle, a bowl, one packaging design, one display and one brochure.
The Jewellery collection is created by plain concrete and refined resin. The two materials signify the transformation of RMIT students to professionals.
I am inspired by the combination of bio-resin and cement. The mixture of the two materials display the contrast between polished and unpolished, it also juxtaposes with white pigment colour spreads, which gives this collection a contemporary touch.
The bottom part is made of concrete, with an original, unpolished and rough surface, it is like our simple school life, we are practicing and learning everyday, gaining new skills and experiences, to lay a solid foundation.
The highlight of the statement ring is the dynamic mix of surfaces, that gives a vibrant and sophisticated feel, enlivened by pure white pigment colour spread, this part indicates the transformation process from school to professional. As fresh graduates, we are like a piece of white paper, we often lose our direction, and are trying to
find our way. The vibrant white ink spread is a symbol of our struggle. The top part is made of resin, with smooth, highly polished surface, it represents students finishing the transformation, and looking to bring all these skills to the real world.
Unique Selling Point
All Jewellery products are individually handcrafted using cement, bio-resin and infused with white pigment.
One of the interesting characters of resin is that the result of every creation is never exactly the same. This makes the end result unique and one of its kind. By combining the two materials, it gives a sense of wearing the transformation.
