McGuire Family Crest

Project Description: For this project we were tasked with creating a simplistic family crest that showed who are family was. First we had to brainstorm and take notes on what words and ideas we thought represented our family. Then we had to transform those words and ideas into sketches. After that we had to turn those sketches into rough drafts. Finally when we had a solid plan and a good rough draft, we went to Adobe Illustrator and made our crests.

Final Design Explanation: For my shield shape I went with a rounded rectangle with a point on the middle bottom. I chose this shape because it is the shape of the actual Irish McGuire family crest. Next I chose to go with the cross to separate the four sections in order to show our Catholic Faith. I put the four little starts inside the cross to symbolize the  four members of our family. Next I chose to put the gold star in the middle of the cross to emulate the Arizona state flag. To emulate the flag is also why I chose the color scheme, I separated the top two sections into a red half and a yellow half to mimic the stripes on the Arizona flag and I chose the dark blue bottom to mimic the bottom of the flag. I chose the clover to symbolize our Irish heritage. I chose the fish to symbolize our Catholic faith. I chose the large B to symbolize Brophy, since my brother and I both went there. I chose the ASU pitchfork because my parents and my brother went to ASU. I chose the curved banner and script text to resemble old Irish type. Finally I chose the black curved lorels to resemble other Irish crests.
