Music Sheet Shelf With Guitar Case Slot

Music Sheet Shelf With Guitar Case Slot
This project was quite engrossing. I was given a sketch by a customer, where this peculiarly tall shelf was drawn briefly with some measurements. It was contemplated to stand next to a piano, with the small tier of the shelf being level with the top of the piano. I drew technical drawings for it afterwards.

I made this shelf entirely from alder. It consists of two sections. The top section is separate from the bottom, so that it can be removed for transportation. They are attached by Festool Domino tenons. The top section is meant to keep music sheet folders, and the bottom section was designed to keep a guitar case.

Here stands the finished product!
Getting started...
2 of the 5 levels are held by shelf brackets. This is so that they can be removed when necessary.
As the picture implies, Festool Domino tenons were used to assemble the product. I used approximately 70 tenons!
I used pigmented Osmo Color wax for the color, and a translucent wax to give it some shine.
I installed 6mm conifer plywood to the back of the structure. Osmo Color was used to finish these as well.
This is the bottom section. I glued a length of felt to the bottom with contact adhesive. This helps keep it from scratches.
This is the top section on the shelf. As seen on the picture, 2 of the upper levels are held by brackets. I nailed a support to the upper rear corner. This strengthens the structure and enables it to be screwed to a wall.
