The Alabamboo Make & Ride

In June of 2011, a team of four cyclists, myself included, rode across America to share the Alabamboo story. This new initiative is a growing movement to bring sustainable bamboo production to Alabama, thus strengthening the economic and social fabric of the rural south.

We converged in Greensboro, Alabama and built bicycles from Alabama-grown bamboo with the help from the Bamboo Bike Studio. Then we pedaled west for two months, stopping at various locations to shed light on the Alabamboo story, sustainability, alternative transportation, and the benefits of bamboo all in the hopes of shaping a positive future. We ended in San Francisco, CA on July 30th, 2011.
