Workshop Module Visual Merchandising - 2017

Visual Merchandising module at DJ Academy Coimbatore: Class project involved Identifying a problem and providing a solution through Visual merchandising to the respective merchandise, the shopper, and audience considering an appropriate brand for communication/graphics understanding and developing VM solutions in a appropriate space/area as identified on the basis of the on field study conducted. Other aspects to be considered, social, cultural, economical and technological issues, sustainable materials technical drawings and research at every step and making of a  prototype.  the class was divided into 4 groups.


Objectives: 
Understanding of creating an Interactive space design which provides Experience to respective audience, through visual merchandising in four different retail formats.
Understanding to identify Problem and provide solution, that enhance ease in shopping, increases the visibility of product, creates a remembrance, gives a good experience and so on.. also keeping in mind social, economical, technological and cultural issues.
Understanding of doing a Research and study at multilevel thus, understanding that visual merchandising  is multi disciplinary, Understanding of developing theoretical concepts and respective structure or form and communication design to execute it, along with Lighting.
Developing observational skills
Exploration at every stage be it concept, Material, etc.
Developing an understanding of using sustainable materials,
Understanding and importance of technical drawings(plans, layouts, elevations, proportions, scale, views),
Developing Group management skills and Enhancing presentation skills.



Group 1:
Visual merchandising solution for a launch of movie at a Mall:
Design a VM solution to spread awareness about the movie in a Mall space to promote its sale and viewers at the same time incorporate other brands Present at Mall and increase the Walkin.
Out come:
Place of study: Mall at Coimbatore
Movie in questions: upcoming Pirate of the Caribbean
Designed Interactive, informative and exciting instillation displays from the entrance to various areas inside the mall to move the audience throughout. Also interactive games were designed to involve the audience and other brands present at the mall.

Group 2:
Visual merchandising solution for a Lifestyle format garment category:
Design a VM solution to create visual impact, with immersive display solutions- windows as well as the important areas of interaction in-store, effective store layout and communication planning, create remembrance.
Out come:
Place of study: various garment outlet in Coimbatore specific area of interest RMKV showroom for Sarees.
Store in questions: RMKV product - Sarees
Designed a thematic display on the lines of wedding as per their study. Starting form facade to in-store respective solutions were provided to create Interactive, informative and exciting VM solutions. to welcome audience and ease their shopping experience.
Saree fixture design solution to go away with the mannequin which were not very appropriate the the current store.
Also, Promote and Provide information about the various range of sarees available.


Group 3:
Visual merchandising solution for a Fast moving consumer goods- modern trade format:
Design a VM solution to create visual impact, with immersive display solutions as well as the important areas of interaction in-store, effective communication planning, create remembrance.
Out come:
Place of study: various retail formats in Coimbatore.
Store in questions: hypothetically Hyper city.
Product selected on the basis of their study Palmolive shower gel.
Designed thematic Interactive, informative displays from the entrance to various areas of highlight inside the store to increase the visibility of the product and catch the attention of the audience. POP displays from the central area / lobby, category aisle, free standing units to cash till displays.

Group 4:
Visual merchandising solution for a Lifestyle format cosmetic category:
Design a VM solution to create visual impact, with immersive display solutions- windows as well as the important areas of interaction in-store, effective store layout and communication planning, create remembrance.
Out come:
Place of study: various garment outlet in Coimbatore specific area of interest Body shop
Store in questions: Body shop
Designed a thematic display on the lines of Art Nouveau and communication awareness on use of organic products as per their study. Starting form facade window to in-store, respective solutions were provided to create Interactive, informative and exciting VM solutions to welcome audience and ease their shopping experience.
