The ObliqO is a concept for a hub-less wheel snakeboard designed for use in urban environments. Fun, unique and high-tech, this personal mode of transportation features two striking 16″ hub-less wheels with slender pneumatic tires that allow the user to coast smoothly on rough surfaces and across gaps and steps that normal skateboards would struggle with. ObliqO’s futuristic look was the result of as an exercise in technology, styling and branding to challenge our perception of personal transportation in cities.
The images above show a working prototype that I produced using the machine shop at Kingston University and outsourcing some of the more specialist manufacturing processes, like the anodising of aluminium.
The 2 images below show examples of 3D CAD renders I created in order to visualise the product and evaluate its features before producing the final prototype.
The final prototype was the last of a series, as shown below.
I finally created a series of promotional posters inspired by elements of the urban environment.
