A SHADOW THEATRE
- Where the Wild Things are -
Our first intention when designing a theatre is not to do it in a conventional way, but try to do it in a way that is in accordance with the circumstances in which we live.
Today, we are involved in a world of change in which the economic and social situation is convulsive. Therefore, according to these premises, we have elaborated our strategies:

Hoy en día, estamos envueltos en un mundo de cambios en la que la situación económica y social es convulsa. Por tanto, conforme a dichas premisas, hemos elaborado nuestras estrategias:
1 - Encourage the imagination
Since the story is destined, above all, to a children's audience, encouraging the imagination is also part of our proposals. To do this, and taking advantage of another of our premises, the one that deals with the economy of media, we design the panels so that the central part is of a translucent material in order to create a theater, in part, based on shading. In this way, there will only be one actor, Max, and the imaginary world of monsters will be made through shadows.

Dado que el cuento va destinado, sobre todo, a un público infantil, incentivar la imaginación también forma parte nuestras propuestas. Para ello, y aprovechando otra de nuestras premisas, la que versa sobre la economía de medios, diseñamos los paneles de manera que la parte central sea de un material translúcido para poder crear un teatro, en parte, a base de sombrar. De este modo, sólo habrá un actor, Max, y el mundo imaginario de monstruos se hará a través de sombras.

A theater of shadows demands a dark environment. This is not random, the story occurs over a night in which Max dreams of that world where the monsters live. Therefore, it is normal to perform during the nights. The summer nights seem like a good frame to develop, since the nights are cool and the weather would make the material not deteriorate because the rain would not destroy it.

Un teatro de sombras exige un entorno oscuro. Esto no es aleatorio, el cuento se produce a lo largo de una noche en la que Max sueña con ese mundo donde viven los monstruos. Por lo tanto, es normal que se realice durante las noches. Las noches de verano parece un marco bueno para desarrollarlo, dado que las noches son frescas y el clima haría que el material no se deteriorara porque la lluvia no lo destruiría.

Dada la problemática económica de nuestros días, pensamos que lo más razonable es hacer una escena a base de una serie de elementos sencillos y baratos que puedan hacerse en serie para disminuir el costo, y en la que no sean necesarios muchos decorados, ni muchos actores.
4 - Betting on public spaces
Culture is a beneficial thing for all, and therefore, we believe it should be available to everyone without any discrimination for social or economic difference. We are committed to doing the work in public spaces, in the squares or in the streets, where everyone has the same opportunity to enjoy the theaters.

5 - Easy assembly
If we want to favor that the work is carried to many places, its transport and assembly must be easy and fast. Thus, we have created moving panels of the same size that can be coupled to each other to create a bottom surface.

Si queremos favorecer que la obra sea llevada a muchos lugares, su transporte y montaje ha de ser fácil y rápido. Así, hemos creado unos paneles móviles de iguales medidas que pueden acoplarse los unos a los otros para poder crear una superficie de fondo.
