The challenge? Make a digital holiday card that looks like a block print. The solution? Hand work. Block prints are made by hand using wood, linoleum or rubber, so I took the original Blooming Aloe ceramic artwork by Jim Sudal, enlarged it, and traced it by hand (including all those glorious imperfections). I also created an overlay tracing for the christmas lights and electrical cord. I scanned everything and layered it all in Adobe PhotoShop, adding texture to make the solids appear mottled like a block print.
