Aziza Ahmad's profile

Scroll: Projects on Paper, Vol. I

Scroll: Projects on Paper is an experimental art publication conceptualized and curated by Aziz Sohail. Volume I: How We Mark the Land was produced to cap off a group show at Gandhara Art Space of the same name that was also curated by Sohail.

Scroll: Projects on Paper brings art outside of the context of a white cube gallery and into the hands of art enthusiasts, students, scholars and researchers with additional texts and images provided by artists on the specified theme/exhibition. The publication thus furthers discourse around the art works themselves, bringing the exhibition outside of its display and directly into the hands of the viewer.

The visual identity as well as the publication itself were designed by me, keeping in line with Sohail's vision of the publication being incredibly accessible but still interesting and engaging both in its aesthetics and content. The two-colour newsprint volume includes a full-colour pull-out poster of Roohi Ahmed's cartographic work Hum (1999). Along with that, there's a double-sided, folded full-colour catalog that details the works exhibited in How We Mark the Land at Gandhara Art Space.
Artists featured include:
Bani Abidi
Naiza Khan
Roohi Ahmed
Fazal Rizvi
Omer Wasim & Saira Sheikh
Zahra Malkani, Shahana Rajani & Abeera Kamran

Volume I of Scroll: Projects on Paper is available
