HASSELBLAD

We tested out the new Hasselblad X1D on this project. The world’s first mirrorless medium format camera. It has a 50MP CMOS sensor in a lightweight body and the ability to shoot in high ISO-settings. A perfect fit for this project because we combined film and photography on set. With this camera we were able to shoot high quality medium format stills with the use of continues HMI lights from Broncolor.

BRONCOLOR

We used a lot of different Broncolor lighting solutions and modifiers for this project. Continues lights as well as flashes. But almost all of the settings were lit with the versatile HMI F1600 daylight lamps in combination with the Open Face reflector or the Para 133. In comparison with halogen lamps, HMI lamps produce four-times the light yield for a given power consumption. Since we’ve shot at a very remote location with a small generator and inside an old boxing gym with weak power circuits the HMI’s were a perfect solution for us.
Another great advantage of so much flicker free output out of the 1600 HMI’s was that we were easily able to combine film & photography on the same sets. Not only for shooting film on higher frame rates, but also to shoot high quality medium format stills with the Hasselblad X1D

Thank you!
