South Africa features a number of sites honoring Mandela. Below are just a few:

- Mandela Capture Site. Located between Johannesburg and Durban close to Howick, the Mandela Capture Site is where Mandela was taken into police custody in 1962. The site includes an exhibit and a sculpture honoring Mandela.

- Robben Island. The location of Mandela’s imprisonment for his anti-apartheid activism, Robben Island has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors arrive by ferry and can tour the facility with former political prisoners to hear a firsthand account of life on the island.

- Mandela House. Located in Soweto at 8115 Vilakazi Street, Mandela House was home to Mandela during his first and second marriages and following his time in prison. Visitors can take a guided tour of the house, now restored to reflect how it looked in 1946.
