I still have dreams about this brochure. It was so much fun to do! It took a lot of time, research, late chilly nights standing in the street with my camera on a tri-pod, capturing the life that is Downtown Denton's night life. Having lived there for many years, and still residing there, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get it on camera and then on paper how much fun the venues are on the square. I nailed it. With 26 locations opened after normal business hours, all meant for the college crowd for the first release (a second release the next year was made where other locations were added that did not meet these criteria) there was a lot of communication between business owners to get the feel for each location. My boss, Lucy Haverkamp went on a pub crawl with the DCVB crew one night and they got to thinking about promoting these locations to visitors to the area. Lucy being a classic rock and roll fan, thought we should name the brochure after Huey Lewis and the News's song, "Hip to be Square" and the creative juices started flowing. She brought it to me and I took off with it!

This brochure was later awarded Best Overall Printed Promotion Award from The Texas State Tourism Department in 2009.

I designed the brochure and did the photography, including the abstract purple on the second flap. This brochure was an accordion fold.
