Handmade dreamcatchers

In 2015 I started experimenting with dreamcatchers to combine my understanding of art and craft. Making a dreamcatcher requires a lot of what is traditionally considered craftwork - weaving, braiding, beadwork etc. rounded off with symmetry and colour balancing. I've tried to push the medium further by using each dreamcatcher to capture my image of a friend; a portrait in cloth, beads, wire and thread, if you will.
Since most of these were birthday gifts, they have places to keep notes from friends - for someone who loves to party, a shot glass seemed fitting.
Old paint bottles to hold notes from friends.
Sometimes things do go according to plan.
A large twig discarded by the gardener serves nicely to illustrate balance.
Trailing off in coloured and scented candles cobbled together from nubs, using old paint bottles.
For someone who values aesthetics, but is inherently practical in nature.
Each smaller unit is a photo frame, for someone who loves pictures and memories.
