Usability Testing for IA & Catalogue Categorisation

Category Remapping
The Information Architecture of the application is directly dependent on the categorisation of all services. The Category Map helped in designing the workflows and interaction for entire application.
We used the Card Sorting method to create the category map.
Category Map with all Services and Sub-services tree view
Analysis:
 - Inconsistent UI flows & behaviour
 - Too many layers to reach any subservice
Prototype for User Testing
The testing session for users comprised of set of tasks, which evaluated user's ease of locating a service on the application, based on a defined scenario.
Key Observations:
 - User perceptions of where a service can be categorised as, are different.
For e.g. Carpet cleaning for some users it was supposed to be under laundry service, for others it was under home cleaning category
- Hiding a particular kind of service under layers of categories and sub-categories makes it more difficult for user to discover it
- Users respond more quickly to booking a service if they are able to find it in first few seconds of browsing
- Showing service icons upfront makes it easier for users to identify what they are looking for faster
Grouping Services into Categories
Design for consistent UI behaviour
Advantages:
 - User moves through a familiar UI for every category/service booking flow
 - Improve user accessibility to any service/sub-service within 2 Levels (L1 & L2 only)
