DINA. Integral Design for Kids With Autism
The challenge was to aid one of the few therapeutic centers by generating didactic material for their activities focusing on children’s behaviors and future self-sufficiency.
We investigated through primary research to better understand children’s behaviors during therapy. Our themes for product design were three main subjects: Organization, security, and self-sufficiency.

The outcome was the generation of four trays’ prototypes focused on visual recognition, fine-motility and action patterns.
Using traditional techniques with modern applications, trays included wood, acrylic, aluminum and analog electronic components.

This project was possible thanks to the research and design help of my great colleagues Miguel Espinoza and Daniel Reyes but also the support from the therapists and parents from ASER, RED and Montessori associations.
