3D Design: Foam and Wire

This project is also from my Spring 2012 semester at Roberts Wesleyan. Another medium chosen for this 3D Design course was foam and wire. One piece was necessary for completion of this project, however, there were two separate objectives. One part was to be representational and one part was to be abstracted. For this piece I chose to make a wing like sculpture, the bone being representational (made from foam) and the feathers being abstract (made from wire.) The foam was first cut with a bandsaw and then hand sanded to their shape and painted. The wire was all bent by hand and glued into place. The piece is 5' 2" wide by 2' 2" tall.
