While interning with the exhibitions design department at the Field Museum in Chicago, I got the opportunity to design for the traveling exhibition Malaria: Blood, Sweat and Tears. Malaria was a photography show that included portraits of many people affected by the disease in Africa and Asia. The gallery where it was to be set up was a small area, and I had limited space to work with. I was given the elements that were needed for the show, and was in charge of deciding how to lay them out. I wanted to make sure all the pieces fit in the space, while still creating interesting flow.
